Microsoft search engine
Microsoft has launched its new search engine to compete with Google. We entered websites design australia in its search box at http://search.msn.com. The results then showed in http://search.ninemsn.com.au that Platypus Websites was No 2 of 1,481,022 matches
We then entered the same text in Google which showed Platypus Websites was No 10 of 6,700,000 matches.
So that looks like Google still has a reference database more than four times the size of Microsoft's MSN.
Who controls the listings?
The leading search engine is still Google whose listings are purchased by other search engines. But Yahoo and Microsoft are scrambling to do their own thing and we need to keep an eye on them.
What is PPC?
Google AdWords seems a good example of Pay Per Click. But who clicks, and do they place an order? Is it worth the money?
Paid inclusions
What's the value in paying to be included in a search engine's listing when good planning and design will get you to the top anyway?
